When your child is misunderstood by the world, each day is hard
For them, and you.
Emotional understanding, regulation and communication don’t come easily for every child. And
when there are layered complexities, sending your child out into the world and expecting them to
cope can feel impossible.

That's where we can help
As experienced child psychologists in Sydney’s north shore, we assess and treat kids and adolescents for mental health concerns, ADHD, ASD, Fragile X Syndrome, IQ, learning delays and more.
We give your child self-awareness and strategies to manage every day, while helping you understand the why behind their behaviours.
You'll get practical guidance to respond with strategies that really work - so when your child can't help themselves, you'll know exactly how to step in.
You move from helpless to resourced. From confused to clear. And swap reactive panic for confident responses and emotional regulation.

Research-backed treatment that transforms daily life
Once we have the full picture, we work in partnership with you to create practical strategies that work for you and your family dynamic. So your child’s meltdowns, inability to express emotions and all your daily battles become a lot easier to handle because you’re able to understand what’s happening, why and how to navigate it.

Evidence-based therapeutic approaches
Our treatment programs are grounded in research and tailored to your child's specific needs.
We may use a fusion of these:
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - teaching children to understand the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviours
-
Social skills training - building confidence in peer interactions and social communication
-
Emotional regulation strategies - the "volcano method" and zones of regulation that children use daily
-
Parent guidance and support - equipping you with tools to support your child's progress at home
-
Secret Agent Society & Cool Kids programs – two evidence-based programs we run that tackle anxiety, demystify emotions and help kids understand social encounters

What to expect during assessment
1. Initial consultation
We kick off with a comprehensive discussion about your concerns, your child's developmental history, and how you hope their/your daily life can look and feel. This helps us tailor the assessment to your specific situation.
2. Comprehensive evaluation
Depending on your child's needs, our assessment may include:
-
Cognitive testing
-
Behavioural observations in natural and structured settings
-
Parent and teacher questionnaires to understand different environments
-
Specialised screening tools for ADHD, autism, Fragile X Syndrome or learning disorders
Your therapist is happy to explain each assessment method to you.
3. Results and recommendations
You might be at the end of your tether, feeling totally overwhelmed and isolated. Supporting you, your child and family is our focus. It’s important to remember that this is a journey and you won’tbe in this difficult place forever.
After assessment, your therapist will talk with you to explain their recommended treatment plan which may include:
-
explaining your child's strengths and areas of difficulty
-
specific diagnoses if applicable
-
initial practical recommendations for home and school
-
and therapy options.
From understanding when behaviours are "can't" versus "won't" to celebrating progress and building your confidence as your child's advocate, we’re here with you.
