When your mind is full and you can’t sort through it alone...

You don’t have to.
Here’s a truth we’ve learned after helping thousands of people with mental battles - most people have problems they can’t figure out themselves.
That’s why The Mindfull Project exists.
We help adults and kids address their difficulties by providing practical tools and self-compassion so you can live the life you want and do the things that matter to you.

Trusted, compassion-driven North Shore psychologists helping you untangle your mental mess

Founded by clinical psychologist, Jennifer Busch, in 2020, we’re a team of mental health professionals who are anything but clinical in our approach.

With us, you find a place where you feel like you’re (or your child is) in your living room, but with the safety of a professional who really 'gets' you, is genuinely on your side and has practical solutions to help bring peace to what feels like an overwhelming situation.

You find empathy, acceptance and understanding backed with science-based ideas that give you or your child the clarity and knowledge you need.

Jen started The Mindfull Project to be a space where your whole experience is therapeutic – not just your 50 minute session. Integrity flows through every interaction you have with us. Our team models healthy relationships and authenticity. We value each person for their uniqueness.

Our intention? To give you or your child a new vision of how you relate to others – with self-compassion, confidence and truth.

Samantha Hayes

Registered Psychologist

TREATMENT

  • Treats adults, couples and children

  • Offers CBT, ACT, and Solution-focused therapies

ASSESSMENT

  • Paediatric and adult assessments

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)

Sam's the kind of person who starts a new art project before finishing the last one. Which is probably why she’s so good at understanding how people's minds work - messy, creative and beautifully imperfect.

Her specialty is psychometric testing and assessment, particularly for neurodiversity like autism and ADHD. What drives her isn't just the testing itself, but those lightbulb moments when people finally understand themselves better.

She's endlessly curious about what makes people tick and finds genuine meaning in making a difference, however big or small.

Sam takes an integrative approach to therapy, pulling from different evidence-based methods depending on what each person needs.

What might surprise you is how non-directive good therapy is: instead of giving you answers, she helps you build your own insights. She's skilled at listening openly and creating the kind of non-judgmental space where real rapport can grow.

Sam's goal for her clients is beautifully considered: increased self-awareness, healthier coping strategies, better relationships with themselves and others and a greater sense of purpose. Her approach is as integrated as her hobbies - purposeful but flexible, evidence-based but deeply human.

Kim Ambor
Registered Psychologist

Registered Psychologist Kim wakes up the roosters and hits the gym at 5am, tea in hand, which might explain her boundless energy for untangling the messiest mental knots her clients bring her.

Her specialty is helping kids and teens unravel the jumble of anxious thoughts vs daily functioning, plus Work Cover cases where she gets to watch people reclaim parts of their lives they thought were lost forever. She also works with couples and families, finding the glue that helps them reconnect. For Kim, it’s an indescribable reward to see someone get their life back.

Kim's approach is compassion-first, curiosity-second and always solution-focused - with a big dose of kindness thrown in. She's brilliant at converting tangled ideas into clear action plans that genuinely work in everyday life. Her meticulous listening and gentle questioning uncover hidden strengths, with just enough humour to keep things human.

While studying psychology, Kim’s job was training sniffer dogs to track people and guard dogs to protect them. This might explain her talent for sniffing out what people really need and supporting their progress.

Away from work, you'll find Kim with her family and Dachshund, swimming, baking or taking beach walks. She's always up for playing clever puns, watching dog videos and sharing satirical memes. Her not-so-guilty pleasures include anything Dachshund-related, foreign language shows and live theatre.

Kim's goal is simple: that every client walks out with one more power tool in their life belt to navigate their world with confidence and hope.

Jennifer Busch

Founder & Clinical Psychologist

Fascinated by the Enneagram personality system and obsessed with the New York Times Wordle (with a chai in hand), Jen’s focus is on client-centred, workable solutions.

She started The Mindfull Project because she wanted to create a psychology practice that rebels against the traditional clinical approach in favour of being human. Her specialty is garden variety anxiety and depression - mental health challenges that so many people experience. It’s rewarding to help people make incremental changes that make a big difference to their daily functioning. It’s like turning down the volume on your inner critic so you can live the life you want. What makes Jen’s therapy effective isn't a fancy technique - she genuinely cares about her clients and deeply listens to what they're saying.

Jen's approach is straightforward: give people practical tools that work in their real life, not just in theory. Beyond her everyday practice, Jen is regarded as an expert in Fragile X Syndrome, having presented her knowledge at the American National Fragile X Foundation international conference.

Outside work, Jen's hands are usually busy with her children or something creative - drawing, crocheting, knitting. She's very into fitness and is determined to (one day) achieve the perfect deadlift. Jen loves making her house hygge - the Danish art of coziness, but she’s also the kind of person who loves learning about new methods of organisation... and then not using them.

Brooke Thomas

Receptionist & knower of all things

Brooke was once destined for the stage - but life had other plans. Lucky for us, that plot twist led her straight to our front desk. Her philosophy is beautifully simple: help make life a little easier and nicer for those around her. Whether that's her colleagues caring for clients or our clients themselves who might need a little extra kindness, Brooke is a dose of sunshine.

What makes Brooke exceptional is that she genuinely cares. She finds joy in doing anything that might make someone's day better, and you feel that authenticity the moment you meet her in our practice or over the phone.

Surprisingly, Brooke is possibly the only receptionist we know who is afraid of the phone. It's a delightful contradiction that perfectly captures Brooke's human approach to everything she does. She shows up anyway (phone fears and all), because helping others matters more than her comfort zone.

When she's not busy sharing positivity and being the glue that keeps our practice together, you'll find Brooke enjoying live music with her family, planning their next travel adventure, or getting competitive over board games. She's also passionate about bushwalking - there's something about being in nature that grounds her.

Brooke embodies the truth that sometimes the most healing moments happen outside therapy -like when someone goes out of their way to make your day a little brighter.
